JoAnne Fisher, 82, of Morgantown, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2022, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born in Mannington, on Feb. 25, 1940, daughter of the late Howard and Ethel Pearl (Dixon) Varner.
Throughout JoAnne’s life, she was known for her enjoyment of cooking and was considered a superb cook. She displayed her cooking skills at big tailgates. JoAnne also had WVU season tickets and went to all games. Her quiet time hobbies included playing cards, and she was an avid reader.
Her cooking skills spilled over, serving as a cook starting out at Sabraton Elementary and Junior High School and then went on to work at Brookhaven Elementary School for a total of over 20 years.
Left to cherish her memories are her son and his wife, Michael J. and Tanya Fisher; daughter and her husband, Faye and Alan Burchard; and siblings Lillian Eisman and Lee Varner and wife Jody.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Joseph Fisher and infant son, John Howard Fisher.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 10 a,m. until the time of the dove release service by Highland Doves at noon on Friday, Nov. 18. Interment will follow at Mannington Park Cemetery in Mannington.
