Irene Fominko

Our beloved sister, aunt and friend, Irene Lynn Fominko, 72, passed peacefully at home with her family on Friday Oct. 28 2022. She was born Sept. 26, 1950. the daughter of the late Tony J. Fominko Jr. and Vena G. (Elmo) Fominko. She was preceded in death by her sister, Janet A. Shade and numerous aunts, uncles and fur-baby, Walleé Fominko.

She was survived by her sister, with whom she lived, Linda B. Fominko, of Granville; her brother, Tony J. Fominko III, of Morgantown; her nieces, Aimee E. Fominko, and Angela D. Leedy, (Christopher Leedy), of Morgantown; great-nieces and -nephews, Louis X. Valentine, Deion Neal, Nysha T. Neal (and fiancée Caleb Eldred) Ashlyn V. Leedy, Landry C. Leedy and Lebron X. Valentine, of Morgantown; and fur-baby, Clark Fominko.

Irene was known for her genuine smile and heartwarming hugs. She truly loved celebrating holidays, birthdays and any and all family get-togethers. She worked year round crafting homemade ornaments for all her friends and family. Irene loved WVU Football, Elvis Presley, puzzles and the New York Giants. She helped take care of her family and bragged about all kids in her life.

Irene had many friends and relatives, but she will be most missed by her dearest friends, Donna D’Amico, John and Martha Fekete, Judy Gapen, Paula Pride, Jennifer Romesburg and Joanna Bever; her godmother, Josephine Gordon; and cousin, Nancy Blosser.

Friends may join the family to honor Irene’s Life for a visitation at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 1-4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2. A committal service will take place at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens Chapel of Tranquility, 1290 Fairmont Road, Westover, at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3.
The family asks that visitors please consider wearing a mask for the visiting and committal service.
