Betty Irene McKinney, 94, of Morgantown, passed away Thursday, Sept. 15, 2022, at Morgantown Health & Rehab. Betty was born in Fairmont on Aug. 31, 1928, a daughter of the late John Shaffer and Artie Conley Shaffer McMillen.
Betty worked as a secretary for the Morgantown Glassware Guild and also as a deputy for the Monongalia County Tax Office.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Shane (Donald), of Athens, Tenn.; sisters, Lorena Shaffer Jones; grandchildren, Alan (Samantha) Shane, of Ontario, Canada, Elizabeth (Chris) Nally, of Texas, Kelly (Jerry) Meldrum, of Michigan, Allison (Kevin) Hennessey, of West Virginia, and Erin (Adam) Proffit, of Washington; great-grandchildren, Emma and Kate Hennessey, Carolyn and Ashleigh Meldrum, Elizabeth, Abigayle and Ainsley Proffit and Emily Nally.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, David “Bud” McKinney; and her daughter, Connie Matthews.
Friends may gather at McCulla Funeral Home, from 3-7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 19, and again from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Tuesday with Pastor Craig Falkenstine officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnwood Cemetery.
