Ellen Pirlo

Ellen M. Pirlo, 73, of Morgantown, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sept. 3, 2022. She passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. Raised in the Morgantown area, she was a familiar face to many who knew her. Ellen was a writer, artist and homemaker that opened her door to anyone that needed help or a warm meal. Some of her passions in life included caring for her loved ones, travel, music, art, writing poems, mental health and disability awareness, donating to various charitable causes and tending to her beloved cats. As a frequent contributor of Letters to the Editor, Ellen often highlighted issues and strengths of Northern West Virginia. She was proud of her daughters and doted on all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her three daughters, Marie B. Goush and life partner Marty Austin, Dawn C. Hilling and fiancé Jeremy Carpenter, and Faith C. Pirlo and fiancé Zach DeBiase. As well as one sister, Mary Frances King, and one brother, John King. Ellen also leaves behind several grandchildren, Amanda Goush, Ashley Collins, Sierra Annonio and Grace Trboyevich; and great-grandchildren, Maddie, Myles, Scarlett, Desmond, Rhylee Mae, Tristan and Aleeyah.

Ellen is preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Gertrude King; brothers, Joseph King and Frederick King Jr.; sister, Patricia Williams; her late husbands, Gary Hilling and Frank Pirlo; and one daughter, Virginia.

Honoring Ellen’s wishes, cremation was arranged by Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, and a memorial service will be held. The service will be at her church, Covenant Evangelical Methodist, with the Rev. Sean Wightman at a later date.
