Elizabeth Hawkins

Elizabeth Rudelle (Bolyard) Hawkins, 85 of Newburg, (Birdscreek Community) passed away on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2022, at Preston Memorial Hospital with family by her side. She was born on March 14, 1937, in Newburg, daughter of the late Enoch and Lena (Miller) Bolyard.

Rudell was a very loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that enjoyed family dinners and holiday gatherings. She worked at Windy Hill and retired from Heartland in Kingwood, with 20 years of perfect attendance. Rudelle also worked on the farm, raising livestock, gardening and canning, and she liked being outside. She enjoyed reading, doing jigsaw puzzles and her special fur-baby, Gracie.

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Wayne “Hawk” Hawkins and wife Donna, of Newburg, and Herbert H. Hawkins Jr. and wife Cheryl, of Tunnelton; two daughters, Karen L. Bolyard and husband David Sr., and Cathy Lynn Shaw and husband Denzil, all of Newburg; nine grandchildren, Amy M. Wotring and husband Dave, David W. Bolyard Jr., Shelley Lee Ann Bolyard and her fur-baby, Audie, Jeremy A Hawkins and wife Misty, Samantha D. Long and husband Tony, Derek M. Bolyard and wife Marie, Nicholas A. Hawkins and wife Sierra, Tara Kelley and husband Chris and Dana Moore and Jamie; two adopted grandchildren, Arthur Taylor and his son, Ty, and Melissa Teter; 19 great-grandchildren, Zachery T. Hawkins, Colton R. Shout, Jaden and Bryson Hawkins, Rosemarie, Tony Jr. and Elijah Paul Long, Haylee, Aubree and Noelle Bolyard, Nicholas Jr., Ivan Joseph and Herbert Wayne Hawkins, Holly Marie and Bentley Lynn Kelley, Gunner James, Colton Winchester, Lilly Marie and Nora Ann Moore; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Rudelle was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert H. Hawkins Sr.in 2009; one grandson, Joseph Hawkins; two sisters, Virginia Haddix and husband, Jim, Catherine Marie Williams and Johnny; and two brothers, Sylvester Bolyard and Audrey Bolyard, and Vincent Bolyard.

Family and friends will be received at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave. Newburg, from 2-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6, and at 9 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7, with Pastor Delbert Lyons officiating. Interment will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery.
