
James S. “Jim” Winaught, 81, of Morgantown, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2022, with his loving wife by his side. He was born Feb. 14, 1941, in Uniontown, Pa., a son of the late Rafford C. and Marie M. (Fox) Winaught.
He was a member of Mount Morris Gospel Tabernacle, where he held various positions and was a former member of the choir.
Known for his kind and compassionate nature, he was always ready to lend a hand. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and above all, his family. He never knew a stranger and will always be remembered for his invitations to come to worship. He will truly be missed, but his legacy of love will live forever in many hearts.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma Dean Winaught and his sister, Barbara Smith Franke.
Surviving him are his wife, Jeannette (Lemley) Winaught; a brother, Rafford “Ray” Winaught and wife Rose; a son, James N. Winaught and wife, Mary Lou; stepdaughter Nancy Rittmann and husband Michael; stepdaughter Tina Sapp and husband Tom; stepson, Timothy Cox and wife, Bambi; and many loving nieces and nephews. He is also survived by grandchildren, Eric Winaught, Erin Winaught, Nicholas Sapp, Christopher Sapp and Timothy Sapp; and especially his two, great-granddaughters Emilee Marie Sapp and Brinleigh Dawn Sapp who he loved beyond measure.
Friends and family may gather at Dering-Henson Funeral Home, 156 Foundry St., Morgantown, WV 26505, from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6. A Christian service will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Samuel Sampson officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 1521 Goshen Road, Morgantown, WV 26508.
