Susan Graves

Susan Virginia Graves, 78, of Morgantown, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2022. She was born on Aug. 2, 1944, in Bartow, Fla., daughter of the late Tom Bond Foulk Jr. (Col., USAF, Ret.) and Mary Jane Hare Foulk.

Susan received her political science degree in 1966 from West Virginia University and her Juris Doctor degree from West Virginia University’s College of Law in 1984. After graduating from law school, Susan started her own legal research firm and served as a corporate attorney for American Occupational Health Management Inc. She was a lifelong community volunteer, most recently active with the Women’s Giving Circle of North Central West Virginia, Valley Hills Garden Club and Alpha Phi Sorority Alumni Association. She also proudly served as a member of the Alpha Phi House Board and the Ronald McDonald House Board of Directors.

Growing up in a military family, Susan was a world traveler from an early age, having lived in Japan and the Republic of the Philippines, where she graduated from high school. She continued with her sense of adventure and love of history by traveling throughout the United States and various European countries. She was an avid reader and always had a book in hand. Susan was a loyal West Virginia University Mountaineer and attended many WVU games and events with her family and friends. Another favorite pastime was playing bridge, spending many enjoyable hours playing cards with her bridge club friends. Above all, Susan was most devoted to her family and loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and extended family.

Susan is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Robert W. Graves, DDS; daughters, Andrea J. Hinerman (Bill) and Erica G. Todd (Chris); her grandchildren, Abigail, Samuel and Jacob Todd; brother, Tom B. Foulk III (Col. USA, Ret.) (Judi); sister, Julie Nash, DDS (James, DDS); brother-in-law, John Polansky; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her sister, Judy Polansky.

In accordance with Susan’s wishes, Hastings Funeral Home Omega Crematory has been entrusted with cremation arrangements. Inurnment will take place at Riverview Cemetery in Ronceverte, at a later date.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 4.
