Morgantown Pride Weekend kicks off this Saturday in downtown Morgantown with events and activities planned throughout the weekend.
Morgantown Pride Board President Ash Orr said the weekend will begin with Morgantown’s first-ever Pride Parade which will head through downtown Morgantown at 7 p.m. Saturday.
Orr said there will be about 20-25 different individuals and groups participating in the parade, but the general public is more than welcome to join in. Those who want to march with Morgantown Pride can gather between 5:30-6 p.m. behind the old Panera building on High Street, Orr said.
“We want to invite the entire community out to line the sidewalk on High Street, and just enjoy our parade,” Orr said. “If folks just want to, you know, support us who are in the community, they’re welcome to start setting up on the sidewalks around 6:30 or so with the parade starting at 7 p.m.”
Weekend festivities will continue at 1 p.m. Sunday with the Morgantown Pride Block Party at the Farmers Market Pavilion in downtown Morgantown.
Orr said the event will feature roughly 45 vendors, five food trucks, a kids’ table, face painting, live entertainment from local bands Intoxicated Zen, Tony From Bowling, and Natural Rat, as well as drag performances from Hunter Downs Morgan, O’dissa B. O’Hara, Dimitria Blackwell and more.
The weekend will conclude with an afterparty for those 18 and older, starting at 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Vice Versa nightclub.
All of the events throughout the weekend are free to the public and, with the exception of the afterparty, are open to all ages.

“We’re really encouraging the community to come out to support our organization, but also to support the queer community, our queer allies, and just to get to know each other,” Orr said. “So everybody is welcome to attend and we’re hoping for a really good turnout.”
