Billy Ray Mayhew, 80, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2022, at Mon Health Medical Center. Billy was born in Cassville, on July 2, 1942, a son of the late James and Mildred Mayfield Mayhew.
Billy served his country in the U.S. Army. After his honorable discharge, Billy worked as a coal miner until his retirement. Billy enjoyed talking and joking around with people and was known for his sarcastic wit and unique personality. He was a very kind man with a big heart who loved his family above all else.
Billy is survived by his daughters, Carla Courtney (Nate), of Morgantown, and Gina Hennicke (Marvin), of Morgantown; and grandchildren, Shane and Hayden.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his first wife, Lillian Mayhew; second wife, Marion Mayhew; four sisters; and two brothers.
In honoring Billy’s wishes, McCulla Funeral Home has provided cremation services. Inurnment will take place at Bethel Cemetery at a later date.
