A beloved father, son, uncle, cousin and friend. David Allen Hooton left this world after a long battle with dementia on Aug. 17, 2022.

David was born on Aug. 9, 1949, in Preston County. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who loved his country. He was also an avid Steelers and Mountaineers fan. David was a dispatcher at Ruby Memorial HealthNet, and he enjoyed using his mechanical skills to repair vehicles. His presence in our lives will truly be missed.
He is greeted in heaven by his parents, Russell and Faye Hooton; his late companion, Leolla Louk; his mother-in-law, Heilda Friend; and his son-in-law, William Howard Smith.
He is mourned on Earth by his daughters, Jennifer Hooton Smith and Cynthia M. Hooton; son, Donnie Louk; siblings, Robert Paul Strawser, Raymond Lee Strawser and Rosemary Frankhouser. He will also be missed by many family and friends.
Friends and family will be received at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home at 3 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 22, until the time of services at 5 p.m. A private interment of his ashes will be held at a later date.
