Aimee Thorn

Aimee Louise Underwood Thorn, 35, of Maidsville, passed away Monday, Aug. 15, 2022 at her parents’ home in Morgantown after a short but very valiant battle with cancer.

Born June 29, 1987, in Elkins, Aimee was daughter of Randall and Audrey Underwood of Morgantown.

In addition to her parents, Aimee is survived by her husband Evan Hudson Thorn; her brother Andrew Nathan Underwood and his wife Amy of Glendale, Calif.; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law who were more like blood siblings to her, Colin and Emily Thorn of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; her favorite nephew whom she absolutely adored, Simon Thorn; her father-in-law and mother-in-law Rick and Midge Thorn of Masontown; and her fur babies Annie, Ella and Lucy.

A graduate of WVU, Aimee was a long-time employee of Mylan/Viatris and previously worked as Estee Lauder manager at Belk.

Aimee loved everything Disney. She was very artistic and creative, and loved Broadway musicals. In college, she played trumpet in the WVU Marching Band. She enjoyed all types of music but was a true 90s kid at heart. She was a huge fan of Justin Timberlake and NSync.

She was an avid painter, loved animals, and although would begrudgingly agree to this — loved realty television.

She was dry-witted, but possessed a wicked sense of humor. She was everyone’s photographer. Most of her friends would say that many of the pictures that they had were taken by Aimee. Her spirit was full of kindness and giving of herself to others.

Friends may join the family to honor Aimee’s life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave. , Westover /Morgantown on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022, from 1 p.m. until the time of the celebration of her life at 3  p.m., officiated by the Rev. Nancy Stevens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Aimee’s name be sent to either the Colon Cancer Foundation at coloncancerfoundation.org, Pet Helpers Inc. at pethelpersinc.org, or Harrison County Humane Society at hshcwv.org.
