Helen Whisner

Helen “Colleen” Whisner, 78, passed away at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, July 26, 2022. She was born May 20, 1944, in Morgantown, a daughter to the late Earl Edward Whisner and Vera Virginia Whisner.

Colleen was a U.S. Navy Veteran who later went on to work for General Motors Willow Run Hydramatic Plant. She was a retiree of Local 735 Retired Worker Chapter, International Union, Unite Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Earl Jr. and Richard Whisner; and a sister, Katherine Elison.

Colleen is survived by her two sons, Jeffrey and Jason Cook; a daughter, Michelle Edwards, all of Kalamazoo, Mich.; a brother, Kenneth Whisner; two sisters, Peggy Whisner and Linda Murff, all of Morgantown; five grandchildren, Joshua and Jeffrey Cook and Mikayla, Cameron and Nikaya Edwards; two great-grandchildren; and her “granddog,” Juno.

Following her wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home in Morgantown. Colleen will be laid to rest alongside her parents at Philos Cemetery in Westernport, Md. at a later date with full military honors.
