Love reviews, but want daily program guide
I would like to thank The Dominion Post for giving space, at least one a week, to the film reviews by Alise Chaffins.
As life-long film addicts, my wife Bonnie and I appreciate reading the views of an objective reviewer. Ms. Chaffins is always balanced and fair in her remarks. I especially appreciated her review of “Where the Crawdads Sing,” currently in cinemas. Hollywood can make some pretty big mistakes when it comes to turning a book or play into a film, so I was happy to read Chaffins’ remark about seeing a pretty good film, but also reading the book that has ever so much more detail and character history and development. We will be seeing the film, but I am grateful I read the book first.
Movie-goers must go on-line to see what local cinemas are showing each week. I miss the old ads that were in the papers every day, giving that information. However, time and technology marches on, and so we can study our tiny cell phone screens to check out movie times and titles.
I am still waiting for The DP to have a regular box that shows the creative arts going on right on campus: art, music, theater and dance all have things worth seeing. Is that not a community service — to have a readily accessible program guide in the daily paper?
Thank you, Alise and The Dominion Post!
