
Donald “Don” Leroy DeVall, 88, of Simpsonville, S.C., formally of Morgantown, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 14, 2022. Don was born in Morgantown on July 2, 1934, to Hazel Naomi Bayles DeVall and Claude Franklin DeVall, of Morgantown.
Don was a loving husband, dad, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed.
Don is survived by his wife of 62 years, Billie Jo Whipkey DeVall; daughter, JoDawn Bowers and husband Bill, of Simpsonville, S.C.; son-in-law, Kevin W. Park and his wife Melanie, of Garner, N.C.; grandchildren, Lauren and Christian Bowers, of Simpsonville, S.C. and Miles and Cana Park, of Garner, N.C. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela DeVall Park; brothers: Herbert, Eldon Max, Hu, Dwight and Marsh; sisters, Irene Joseph, Virginia Marshall and Billie Knight; and several nieces and nephews.
Don attended Chestnut Ridge Church, where he was a greeter for several years before moving to Greenville, S.C. He was an Army veteran, a member of Masonic Lodge #4, Osiris Shrine Wheeling, Morgantown Shrine Club, Mountaineer Patrol and Taylor County Clowns. Don and his brothers, Hu and Max, started DeVall Bros Inc. in 1962, where he pursued his passion for 37 years. He successfully designed and received patents on drill heads. Don ran the shop until his retirement in 1999.
Friends may gather at McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Morgantown, from 4-8 p.m. on Monday and from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Tuesday with Pastor Tim Haring officiating. Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery in Valley Point.
