James Harmon

James H. Harmon Jr., 69, of Hagans, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Hudson, N.Y. on Jan. 16, 1953.

He was a coal miner of 32 years at Humphrey #7 and Blackville #2 Mines. In the mines is where he met his life-long best friend, Buford “Junior” Lungsford, better known to his buddies inside the mine as “Preacher.”

He loved woodworking and had a business, Country Heartland, where he displayed his talent. He loved his family and family gatherings.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Ann Harmon; his four children, James H. Harmon III (Marcella), Jeanetta V. Campbell (Glen), Isaac M. Harmon (Lila) and Nathan A. Harmon (Angie); his mother, Marilyn Hitchcox; one brother, Charles “Chuck” Harmon (Jenny); and one sister Debra “Debbie” James, all of Ohio; his church family at Zoar House of Prayer; and many nieces and nephews.

He was a loving grandfather to 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will be held at the Zoar House of Prayer on July 1, 2023.

The family wishes to thank WV Caring Hospice for all of the care that they provided to Jim.
