
John Marshall Morgan, 82, of Fairmont, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Fairmont on May 14, 1940, the only child of the late James and Mary McAteer Morgan.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years Catherine “Kitty” Bulick Morgan; three children, Danny Morgan, of Gainesville, Fla., Cathy Morgan and husband Tim VanHooser, of Dayton, Ohio, and Melody Morgan, of Masontown; six grandchildren, John, Mike, Chris, Jessica, Alex and Fox; his great-grandchildren, Brooke, Jimmy, Andrew, Noah, Nathan and Christian; his sister-in-law, Patty Shackleford, of Fairmont; a niece, Amy Whitten, of Fairmont; and nephew, Steve Shackleford, of Ohio.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James “Jimmy” Morgan.
He graduated in 1958 from the former St. Peter’s High School in Fairmont. He was the long-time owner of Jimmy Morgan’s Music Shop. He was a very well-known musician throughout the area, having played with the Jimmy Morgan Orchestra, the Fairmont Pops and the Pastels from Clarksburg. He regularly played at the Green Acres Supper Club and with the Shriners Band. He also worked at State Electronics in Fairmont.
At John’s request, there will be no public services scheduled.
