
RoseMary Nagowski, 90, died of Alzheimer‘s disease on June 3, 2022, in Saxonburg, Pa.
RoseMary was born on May 16, 1932, in Buffalo, N.Y., the daughter of Joseph and Kathrine Tomczak. She graduated from Villa Maria Academy in Buffalo, N.Y. with a secretarial certificate. She moved to Washington, D.C. and accepted a position as a senatorial secretary, where she worked for two years. She met the love of her life, Daniel E. Nagowski, at a dance in Buffalo, N.Y. and married on May 16, 1953.
RoseMary came to Morgantown in 1978 and worked as a secretary in the biology department at West Virginia University. She worked with her husband Dan in the family business and was president of Wings and Things Inc. until her retirement in 1985. She volunteered her time at Birthright in Morgantown for many years.
RoseMary and Dan loved to travel, visit their children and spend springtime in Delray Beach, Fla. She was a loving and generous mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Star City and enjoyed attending services there with her sister Rita. On special occasions, she would take flowers (roses) to the Church and place them at the feet of the Blessed Mother. She enjoyed gardening and playing with her grandchildren.
RoseMary is survived by three sisters, Stella Rita Humphrey, of Clover, S.C.; Janet Brandl, of Amherst, N.Y.; Alice Modica, of Minneapolis, Minn; her children: Jacqueline Derrick (Robert), of Pendergrass, Ga., William Nagowski (Christine), of Butler, Pa., and Daniel Nagowski (Melissa), of Morgantown, with whom she made her home; her grandchildren: Daniel Lloyd Nagowski (Sarah), of Morgantown, Emily Vaughn Nagowski, of Charlotte, N.C., Ashley Rose Derrick, of Pendergrass Ga., Nicole Nagowski, of Butler Pa., Molly Marie Nagowski, of Charlotte, N.C., Hannah Louise Nagowski, of Morgantown, and Jeffery Nagowski (Katie), of Yuma, Ariz.; her great-grandchildren: Jon Nagowski, of Butler, Pa., Callie Claire Morgan, of Morgantown, Henry Arthur Nagowski, of Morgantown, Tim Nagowski, of Butler, Pa., and Conor Daniel Nagowski, of Morgantown; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Katherine and Joseph Tomczak, of Buffalo N.Y.; her husband, Daniel Eugene Nagowski, of Morgantown; and her brother, Joseph Tomczak, of Buffalo, N.Y.
A memorial mass is scheduled to be held at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 3344 University Ave. Morgantown, WV 26505, at 10:30 a.m. on July 23, 2022, with Father DiBacco officiating.
