Geneva Osbourn

Geneva G. Osbourn, the daughter of Ione and George Godfrey was born on Oct. 15, 1934, in Sutton, and passed from this life on May 18, 2022, at the home of her daughter, Susan Walker, in Morgantown.

Geneva was an avid reader of her Bible and attended the River Apostolic Church in Morgantown, where she volunteered her time every Monday out of the goodness of her heart.

She was a wonderful mother, loving grandmother and great-grandmother, a true friend and a terrific aunt to all of us who knew her. She loved bowling and was on a league for many years, but family was of the utmost importance to her.

Geneva was in a group of ladies that made quilts for nursing homes, shut-ins, children’s hospitals, the Ronald McDonald House and third world countries. Also, for anyone who just needed to know someone cared.

She was married to Claud “Skinny” Osbourn, who was the love of her life until his passing in 1991.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan Walker, of Morgantown, and Geneva Ann Jones, of Columbus, Ohio; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Olen Godfrey; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ione and George Godfrey; her sisters, Lorraine Godfrey and Zela Wilson; her brothers, Don Elbert, George Jr. and Kenneth Godfrey; two nephews, Galen Godfrey and Kevin Wilson; and her beloved husband, Claud Osbourn.

The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 2nd & Jasper St., Rivesville, WV 26588, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, and from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Monday, May 23.
