Russell Greathouse

Russell Allan Greathouse, 84, of Morgantown, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at the J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital with loving family by his side. He was born April 24, 1937, in Bull Run, a son of the late Sylvester and Ona Pearl (Jenkins) Greathouse.

He was a proud member of the UMWA Local 1702 and worked for many years as a coal miner. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing with his family at Smoke Hole Caverns and Stump Sisters at 7 Islands. He was also an avid Mountaineer enthusiast, especially football and basketball. He was a big Dale Earnhardt NASCAR fan. One of his favorite pastimes was playing the card game “Set Back” with his siblings. He loved spending time with his grand-pets.

He leaves a son, Eric A. Greathouse (Bobbi); two daughters, Vera M. Davis and Regina R. Greathouse (Roger Samuelson); two brothers, William “Moody” and Edgar Greathouse; sister, Brenda Greathouse; five grandchildren: Clayton and Aaron Davis and Kaitlyn, Emily and Aimery Samuelson; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his extended loving family: Terry and Kathy Taft and their children Winter, Jonathan and Moriah and their families; and close friend, Harry Franks.

He is preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur, Ron (Sally) and Jack (Merle) Greathouse; three sisters, Virginia (Ken) Nicholson, Loretta June Nicholson and Ruby (Earl) Cale; and his sister-in-law, Nanci Greathouse.

Friends may call at the Morgan Funeral Home in Reedsville, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, April 9th and again in the funeral home chapel from 1-2 p.m., the time of the funeral services, on Sunday, April 10, with the Rev. David D. Spence officiating.

Graveside Services will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery.
