Update: Body found identified as missing woman

UPDATE:

At 4:45 p.m. Monday, officers from the Morgantown Police Department were notified of a dead body in Deckers Creek. Officers and firefighters from the Morgantown Fire Department responded and recovered the body of an adult female from Deckers Creek behind 45 Deckers Creek Blvd.
 
The female was identified as Candace McLaughlin, 48, of Morgantown. McLaughlin was reported as missing to the Morgantown Police Department on March 13.
 
There were no apparent signs of injury or trauma to the body. The body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Charleston for further examination.
 
Detectives with the Morgantown Police Department are investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Detective Division at 304-284-7454 or leave an anonymous tip by calling the MPD Tip Line at 304-284-7520.

Friends and loved ones are seeking help finding Candace McLaughlin, who has been missing since Saturday.

According to friends, McLaughlin was last seen around 3 p.m. Saturday, in the Greenmont/South Park area. Reports put the last-known sighting of her leaving a house on Cherry Street — she does not have any belongings on her, including shoes, a phone or her wallet.

A police report has been filed, and loved ones have called area hospitals, police stations, hotels, checked along the rail-trail and more, to no avail.

McLaughlin is about 5’4″, 120 pounds, with dirty blond hair and hazel/green eyes. She wears a size 8 shoe. She is heavily tattooed and has facial tattoos.

Friends ask anyone who lives in the area who has exterior security cameras to please check the footage and alert police if they see anything that could be helpful.
