Barry Comberiati

Barry Richard Comberiati Sr., 68, of Morgantown, passed peacefully at the J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital on Sunday Feb. 6, 2022, following a short illness. Barry was born Feb. 13, 1953, in Washington, Pa., son to Joseph and Angela Fortini Comberiati.

Barry graduated high school and later attended college, majoring in accounting. He was most recently working for the Morgantown Utility Board and retired after more than 30 years of service. He was most comfortable in T-shirts and jeans and loved fishing on the Ohio River. He was so thrilled to receive his lifetime fishing license in 2019.

He was a hard-working family man. He adored his grandchildren, who called him “Pappy.” Barry was a frequent visitor of the Blue Horizon flea market and an experienced “yardsaler.” He was a collector of many things, but was most proud of his Superman, Ninja Turtle and video game collection.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Cathrine Horne Comberiati; one daughter, Elizabeth Comberiati-Sisler and her husband, Tommy, who was also Barry’s fishing buddy; and four sons, Barry R. Comberiati Jr. (Shana), of Pittsburgh, Grant Comberiati (Savanah McIe-Comberiati), of Morgantown, Walker Comberiati (Mikayla Brock), of Washington, Pa., and Shane Falls-Comberiati, of Morgantown.

He was Pappy to his seven grandchildren, Alyssa, Emilie, John, Adrina, Kendra, Serena and Leonardo “Leo”; and a brother to his only surviving sibling, Angela Warder (Doug), of Grafton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Angela, and two brothers, Joseph and twin brother Larry.

The family will receive friends at the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home, from 10 a.m. until time of services at noon on Thursday, Feb. 10, with Pastor Jim Johnson officiating. Cremation will follow with private scattering service to be held at the convenience of the family. To help mitigate the spread of COVID, please consider a properly worn face covering while attending services. Funeral services will be livestreamed on Barry’s memorial page at www.fredjenkinsfuneralhome.com.

Please consider a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in memory of Barry.
