
Thomas Joseph Cianfrocco, 86, of Westover, passed away peacefully Jan. 25, 2022, with his loving family by his side. Born Dec. 21, 1935, to the late Mary (Sabatini) and Sebastiano (Sam) Cianfrocco, Thomas, known by many as “Tom,” was a lifelong resident of Westover.
He was a graduate of Morgantown High School. At a young age, Tom sold Sunday newspapers for Clem Semler in Downtown Morgantown. During high school, he worked at both the Army Store and Stanley’s Men’s Shop. Tom and his brother, Vince, were operators of Cianfrocco Amoco Station in Pursglove, before becoming distributors for Gulf Oil Products. He was a proud gasoline distributor for the tri-state area, developing many good friendships throughout his career.
Tom was an avid gardener and hunter. He also enjoyed many hours in the kitchen, making homemade pizza, bread and pasta sauce for his family, as well as homemade wine.
Tom is survived by his three children, Kathy (Rex) Foster, of Parkersburg, and Mary Ann Boczek and Thomas Cianfrocco, both of Morgantown; grandchildren, Lauren Boczek (Aaron Ryan), Kara Boczek, Hillary (Michael) Boone and Kyle Foster (Madison Myers); great-granddaughter, Gemma Boone; sister, Rosemary Cianfrocco; brother-in-law, William Keechel; sister-in-law, Alice Keechel; nephew, Michael Scordato; nieces, Heather Keechel and Billie Jo Sroka; and great-niece, Anna Marie Scordato.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Jean (Keechel) Cianfrocco; sister, Clara Cianfrocco Scordato (2020) and her husband Samuel Scordato; his brother, Vincent Cianfrocco (2021); his grandparents, Vincenzo and Chiara Cianfrocco, of Alatri, Italy; Rose and Angelo Sabatini, of Morgantown, (Abruzzi, Italy); his aunts and uncles, Acquilino and Emma Chenfrock and Joe and Mary Katherine Sabatini; and aunt, Frances Sabatini. Also surviving are relatives in Italy.
The family would like to acknowledge Dr. Michael O’Keefe, Dr. Joann O’Keefe, Dr. Paul McCarthy, Dr. Alan Hess and Dr. Penny for their care of Tom throughout the years.
Family and friends will be received at Dering-Henson Funeral Home, 156 Foundry St., Morgantown, from 2-7 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 30, and from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 31, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 1 Guthrie Lane, Morgantown.
A Mass of Christian Burial with Msgr. Anthony Cincinnati as celebrant will follow at the church at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 31. Internment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery in Morgantown.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Ursula Food Pantry and Outreach, 87 Pursglove Road, Morgantown, which is adjacent to the former site of Tom’s service station.
