Here is a list of area candidates who’ve filed for statewide office or local legislative office. The filing period runs through Jan. 29.
The 2022 primary and general elections will involve newly redrawn legislative and Congressional districts, with the House of Delegates moving from 67 districts to 100 single-member districts (most of Monongalia County is currently in the five-member 51st District).
Although maps are available to view at the secretary of state’s and Legislature’s websites, many voters who live near the district borders may not be able to tell what district they live in.
The secretary of state’s office told The Dominion Post that the county clerks have until Jan. 21 to finishing their mapping and precinct work. Most have the assistance of a GPS consultant.
Then, sometime in February, the office said, all registered voters will receive a new voter registration card in the mail. That card will include the precinct, House district, Senate district and Congressional district.
