Mark Steven Gilmore, 61, of Morgantown, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Dec. 10, 2021, at his residence.
He was born in Biloxi, Miss. on March 30, 1960, a son of Joyce Hornyak Gilmore, who survives him in Morgantown, and Teddy Gilmore, who survives him in Barrackville.
Mark is survived by his wife, Jessica Lynn Gilmore, with whom he just celebrated his 31st wedding anniversary; two daughters, to whom he was completely devoted, Megan Joy and Abigail Noel Gilmore; and two sisters, Candace Twigg and her husband Dickie, of Morgantown, and Kristal Chisler and her husband Van, of Blacksville; Mark was preceded in death by his sister, Melody Ann Gilmore, on Dec. 24, 2018.
Mark was an absolutely devoted and loving husband and father to his wife and children, and made them the center of his entire universe. He was employed by the Laborer’s Local #379 and retired from there after 38 years of dedicated service. If anything broke down or blew-up, Mark was the guy to fix it. There was virtually nothing he couldn’t fix. He was totally meticulous about everything he did, and made sure that it was done right the first time. He was a very intelligent guy who learned much of what he was able to do on his own. He was an animal lover and a big jokester.
Friends may join the family to honor Mark’s life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Westover/Morgantown, from 3-7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 17, for a time of sharing your best stories and favorite memories.
