Edward Charlton

Edward “Ed” Charlton, 56, of Grafton, passed away Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021, at Mon Heatlh Medical Center, in Morgantown, with his family by his side from complications of COVID-19. He was born Sept. 18, 1965, in Philippi, the son of the late Clarence “Bill” and Martha Deloris Brown Charlton.

Ed attended Grafton High School and graduated with the Class of 1984. He was a master electrician, plumber and was HVAC and Waste Water Treatment certified. He worked many years while owning and operating his own construction business, Charlton Construction. He took great pride in building custom log homes and was proud of the projects he completed through his business or just helping others. He also operated an underwater dive service, teaching scuba diving to many people as a hobby and certifying many, enabling them to assist on rescue teams in the tri-state area. Ed enjoyed participating in the Toughman Contest, hunting and the time he could spend outdoors. He liked being among his friends and family as often as possible and considered each of them as the joy of his life, especially his grandchildren.

Ed is survived by two daughters, Alyssa Charlton, of Grafton, and Tosha Leach (Keith), of Grafton; five grandchildren, Ben, Chloie, Dakota, Willow and Ryder; girlfriend, Nancie Propst, of Grafton, and her son, Hunter Cornwell, of Morgantown; the mother of Ed’s children, Lisa Bolyard Leach, of Grafton; three sisters, Laura Lafferty (Lester), of Grafton, Tammy Charlton, of Canton, Ohio, and Billie Jo Charlton, of Grafton; a brother, Joseph Charlton, of Grafton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Ed is preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Matt Charlton.
