Sandra Weston

Sandra Weston, of Morgantown, passed away on Monday, Nov. 22, 2021. Better known as Sandy to her friends and colleagues, she was born in 1951 in Birmingham, England.

Sandy spent most of her young life in a small Hampshire village, Vernham Dean, then moved to London where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in humanities and literature at Thames Polytechnic (now Greenwich University) and a certificate in education from the University of London before immigrating to the United States.

In America, Sandy worked as a bookseller in Bethesda, Md. and the World Trade Center in New York City. During the last 15 years, Sandy was a librarian with the Morgantown Public Library System, primarily working at the Clinton Public Library.
Reading and literature were always a huge part of her life, and she took great pleasure in introducing library patrons and members of her book club to new authors and books.

She was also an accomplished crafter, and apart from knitting, quilting and ceramic and glass arts, she was skilled at illustration. Sandy was an enthusiastic member of the “British Ladies,” a Morgantown group originally organized by wives of World War II soldiers. She also loved her cats and volunteered for a number of years at Animal Friends shelter.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Hastings Funeral Home.
