Richard Strawser

Richard “Dick” Ralph Strawser, 87, of Fellowsville, passed away on Dec. 6, 2021, at his residence, with family by his side.
He was born on Sept. 25, 1934, in Tunnelton, son of the late Richard Harold and Sophia Mae Nestor Strawser.

Dick graduated from Tunnelton High School, Class of 1952. He served in the United States Army from 1957-1959. Dick retired as a coalminer from Consol-Dobbin Mines in Davis, with 32 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. Dick was a member of the Fellowsville United Methodist Church and Fellowsville Ruritan, where he was treasurer.

Dick is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Virginia Mae Strawser, whom he married on April 30, 1960; two children, Kimberly Jean Strawser, of Morgantown, and William Glenn Strawser and Tanya, of Tunnelton; one sister, Joyce Ann Cool and Bob, of Fellowsville; his furry four-legged friend, Raven; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Dick is preceded in death by one brother, William Wallace Strawser.

Family and friends will be received at the Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown St. Newburg, from 10:30 a.m. until time of the service at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9. Interment will be at the West Virginia National Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Taylor County Honor Guard and the U.S. Army National Guard of Camp Dawson. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Pet Helpers 726 East Park Ave. PMB 311, Fairmont, WV 26554, or Preston County Animal Shelter 278 Poor Farm Road Kingwood, WV 26537. Due to COVID-19, the family requests that all who plan to attend wear protective face coverings or CDC approved masks.
