MORGANTOWN — A Morgantown man faces sexual abuse charges after allegedly touching a teenage girl staying the night at his residence.
Henry Lee Yoho, 47, has been charged with sexual abuse in the first degree and sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, custodian, or person in a position of trust to a child, after an incident with a minor at his Ridgedale Road residence, according to a criminal complaint.
West Virginia State Police Trooper A.L. Barnette, who filed the complaint, said the 15-year-old victim was staying with a friend at Yoho’s residence on Oct. 2. While spending the night, the victim was under the care and custody of Yoho.
In the complaint, it said that the victim told the Child Advocacy Center in an interview that Yoho slept in the same bed as she did, and while she was sleeping he touched her inappropriately.
During the interview, the victim described the incident by saying she woke up because she could feel someone touching her, the complaint said. She went on to say that when she initially opened her eyes and witnessed Yoho touching her his eyes were open, but he immediately closed his eyes and acted like he was sleeping.
According to the complaint, the victim said she was alone in the bed with the defendant when the incident occurred.
The victim immediately departed the residence and later notified her father, who then notified Trooper Barnette, said the complaint.
Barnette said in the complaint that after advising Yoho of his Miranda rights, Yoho admitted to sleeping alone in the bed with the victim that night.
Yoho was arrested and released on $17,500 bond. He will appear before Judge Saundra Holepit in Monongalia County Magistrate Court on Dec. 6 for a preliminary hearing.
