Stanley P. “Stan” Kowalski, 77, of Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born Nov. 14, 1943, in Morgantown, a son of the late Stanley S. Kowalski and Mary Y. Galambus Kowalski.
Stan worked as a machinist at various companies. His career started at Gais Electric and then he went to work at KIT Mine in Philippi, before retiring from Swanson Industries. When Stan wasn’t working, you could usually find him outdoors hunting, fishing or golfing. He also enjoyed watching baseball and football, and he coached softball in his younger years.
He is survived by a daughter, Stacey Long and husband John “Mike” Long, of Masontown; grandchildren, Alexandra Long and Garrett Long, of Morgantown; brothers, Edward Kowalski and wife Christene, of Cainfield, Ohio, Robert Kowalski, of Morgantown; and many cousins, extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Stan was preceded in death by a brother, John Kowalski.
The family will receive friends at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, from 3-7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 12, and again from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Saturday with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Stan will be laid to rest at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
