FAIRMONT — MVB Bank Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of MVB Financial Corp. and a founding sponsor of the GameChanger Initiative in West Virginia, will once again join Jobs & Hope West Virginia and other national and local companies to help raise funds to assist with the “Change Their Holiday” campaign.
MVB Bank will provide a corporate donation and MVB team members will participate in the campaign to provide families in recovery from opioid and substance misuse the financial means necessary to enjoy a better holiday season and to make sure Santa leaves surprises under the tree on Christmas morning for the children.
Through the “Change Their Holiday” campaign, GameChanger along with MVB Bank and corporate sponsors, including Walmart, McDonald’s and the JW Ebert Corp., Pepsi, ParMar and Mountaineer Marts and Aetna Better Health of West Virginia will be raising money through donations and various promotions until Nov. 26. “Everyone who knows me knows I believe our kids are our greatest treasure and even the thought of a child missing a visit from Santa or a family not being able to enjoy a wonderful Christmas dinner with all the fixings is unfathomable,” said West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice, who serves as head coach of the Game Changer initiative. “I know MVB Bank was the first sponsor of Game Changer, and I can’t thank them enough for their continued involvement.”
Don Robinson, MVB executive vice president, chief financial officer, and one of the original three GameChanger founders, along with WVSSAC Executive Director Bernie Dolan and current Game Changer Executive Director Joe Boczek, said MVB is glad to support “Change Their Holiday” and is pleased with the growth and success of the entire GameChanger initiative in such a short time.
“We are truly blessed. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine the magnitude of the growth and phenomenal success and interest with GameChanger, not only throughout West Virginia but the nation as well,” Robinson said.
Larry F. Mazza, MVB president and CEO, said MVB Bank is honored to be part of such an important mission.
“It’s no secret that opioid and substance misuse is approaching epidemic proportions,” he said. “MVB Bank is committed to the GameChanger initiative to help eradicate this terrible disease while providing support for our youth to lead happy, healthy and productive lives.”
GameChanger is a student-powered substance misuse prevention movement connecting West Virginia students and the educators who care about them with the Hazelden-Betty Ford Foundation to build school environments that prevent student opioid and other drug use before it starts. GameChanger achieves this objective by working directly with schools to implement, monitor and sustain the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation’s student peer leadership programs.
