MASONTOWN — A working farm in Masontown transforms into a vintage Christmas village during a four-day period, allowing for a unique holiday shopping experience.
Festivities begin today and run through Sunday.
Debbie Umble said this marks the sixth year Christmas at the Barn will hold the shopping event. Because it’s a working farm, shoppers are asked to leave their pets in their cars or at home. Umble said shoppers are also asked not to smoke on the premises.
“This will be our sixth year in Masontown and our 26th year in total,” Umble said. “We held Christmas at the Cabin in Point Marion for 20 years before coming here.”
She said shoppers do not have to pay for items at each vendor, instead there is one location to pay for everything at once. Umble said due to poor internet service, only cash and checks are accepted. She said there is an ATM on site.
Christmas at the Barn features vintage Christmas items, local artisans, jewelry, soap, paintings, stained glass, handmade purses, crocheted items, linens, folk art, barn finds, antiques, primitives, flea market items, rescued furniture, holiday treats and a fixer-upper area among its offerings.
Food and beverages are prepared on site by Mountain State Barbecue, and homemade desserts and hot drinks by Heather’s Sweet Treats will also be available.
Umble said this year there will be homemade candies, maple syrup, honey, gourmet apples, jelly, jams and organic goods. There will be Christmas music and lights at night for shoppers to enjoy.
She said the road to the barn has been upgraded, so it will not be as rough to travel as it has been in past years. She added, however, that shoppers should not follow their GPS. Signs have been put up beginning at Main Pharmacy in Masontown that will direct shoppers to the barn.
Dates and times are:
- noon-8 p.m. today-Saturday
- 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.
Santa will be available to talk with the children from 4-6 p.m. Saturday.
