Lee Baker Cagey, 85 of Winchester, Va., formerly of Fairfax, Va., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2021, after a brief illness.
Lee was born to Elmer Martin and Olive Ruth Cagey on Aug. 3, 1936, in Morgantown. After graduating from Morgantown High School in 1954 and attending West Virginia University, he moved to the Washington D.C. area. He accomplished a 40-year mechanical design and engineering career and was awarded a U.S. Patent in film processing. Lee and his wife, Donna Rinehart Cagey, of Morgantown, and son Clarke, were members of St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church of Burke, Va.
Retiring in 2002, Lee used his fine woodworking skills to complete a home in Winchester, Va. He traveled and enjoyed the company of relatives and high school friends, including Jim Snyder and Sally Flinn Thomas of Morgantown. Among his interests were antique automobiles, trucks, trains and family history.
Lee was preceded in death by his wife, Donna, in 1998; son, Clarke, in 2014; and cousins, Carol Cagey in 1962 and Frank Hutchison in 1993.
He is survived by his brother, Jim and wife Debbie, of Loveland, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Anne Henderson Cagey, of Baltimore; and cousins, Sharon Hall, Susan Adams, Diane Cagey, Sally Finan, Joan Taylor, Kay Morris and Gail Loux. He enjoyed the company of cousins from the Beardsley family, Susan, Betsy, Kay and Mike; and the Lyons family, Nina and Bill.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Winchester Medical Center, Palliative Care Team and Blue Ridge Hospice for their emotional support and compassionate caregiving.

In honoring Lee’s wishes, cremation was provided by Omps Funeral Home, Winchester, Va. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, Morgantown.
