Lois Capanna Kish, 82, of Glen Ellyn, Ill., formerly of Masontown, Pa., passed away peacefully in her sleep on Oct. 14, 2021.
Lois was born on Feb. 8, 1939, the daughter of Laurio Capanna and Elsie (Victor) Capanna, in Haydentown, Pa. She graduated from Masontown High School in 1957 and attended California State College, earning a Bachelor of Science in education and her Master of Science from Northern Illinois University. She loved teaching and empowering her students inside the classroom, in her neighborhood and everyday life.
Lois was predeceased by her parents and sisters, Bonnie Capanna and Carol Sue Glassie. She is survived by her husband, Frank Kish; daughter, Laurie (Eric) Garza, of Austin, Texas; and son, Joe Kish, of Wheaton, Ill.; her sister, Gloria (Mark) Bowers, of Point Marion, Pa.; eight nieces and nephews; and many people who loved her dearly.
Final service and interment for family and friends will be held Friday, Oct. 22. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Francis of Assisi Parish, Masontown, Pa., at 1 p.m. with Father Marlon Pates as celebrant. Interment follows in Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa. Arrangements entrusted to John S. Maykuth Jr. Funeral Home, 7 River Ave., Masontown, Pa.
