Wanda Lee Spencer, 94, of Morgantown, passed away Monday, Sept. 20, 2021, at the Tygart Center in Fairmont. She was born Aug. 8, 1927, in Morgantown, a daughter of the late Charles and Grace Craig Miles.
Wanda was a hard worker. She worked until she was 85 years old at various jobs, including J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, American Red Cross, Monongalia Senior Center, Criss-Cross and Mountain Line Transit.
Wanda was known as a kind person and friendly to everyone she met. She enjoyed a good laugh and loved making those around her laugh as well. Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her family. She loved to sing to her granddaughter and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter, Melanie Spencer; granddaughter, Leandra Goldberg and husband Mark; great-grandchildren, Christiana, Camden, Cylen and Cole Gilmore, CaLeah Armstrong and Dahlia Goldberg; and a host of nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces, cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Dean Spencer Jr.; son, Dean C. Spencer III; brothers, Jack, Willington and Arthur Miles; and sisters, Mary Virginia Glaze, Jo Clara Link, Letta Ray Miles and Bobette Johnson.
The family will receive friends at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until a time of reflection at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25. Wanda’s home going service will begin at 1 p.m. with Pastors L. Leo Riley and Regina Riley officiating. Honoring Wanda’s wishes, cremation will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Wanda’s memory to a local charity of your choice.
