Peter Squarcette

Peter Timothy Squarcette, 73, of Temple, Texas, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021, after battling a lengthy illness.

Born on Aug. 7, 1948, in Morgantown, to Peter Squarcette and Nellie C. Reppy Squarcette. Tim attended Morgantown High School where he played almost every sport. A friend from school described him as a “Gentle Giant.” He had a big heart and was friends to many. Tim loved the game of football and religiously watched the West Virginia Mountaineers play. After high school, Tim was badly hurt in a car accident that would end his dreams of playing football. Tim then married his wife, Linda Hall Squarcette, of Star City. Tim and Linda were married for 45 years and have two daughters, Traci Squarcette and Julie Squarcette Ruiz. In 1980, Tim and Linda moved the family to Powder Springs, Ga., where they raised the girls and started their real estate careers. Tim loved spending time with his grandchildren: Seth, Blake, Ashley and Olivia. The kids brought Tim and Linda so much joy that they decided to move to Temple, Texas in 2011.
Tim is survived by his daughters, Traci Squarcette, of Belton, Texas, and Julie Squarcette Ruiz (Dr. Steven Ruiz), of Temple, Texas; grandchildren, Seth Ruiz (McKinley), of Temple, Texas, Blake Ruiz, of Temple, Texas, Ashley Ruiz, of Temple, Texas, and Olivia Squarcette, of Belton, Texas; nieces, Andrea Taylor-Mullenax (Steve), of Morgantown, and Emilia N. Taylor, of Morgantown.

Tim is preceded in death by his parents, Peter Squarcette and Nellie C. Reppy Squarcette; wife, Linda Hall Squarcette; sister, Kathy Squarcette Custer (Joe); and grandparents, Antonio Reppy, Rose Reppy, Guido Squarcette and Giovannina Squarcette, of Morgantown.

A celebration of life will be held at Marilla Recreation Center, Morgantown, at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 2. At Tim’s request, a “tailgate-like” reception will follow. Food will be provided but feel free to bring your favorite tailgate dish to share.
