Doris Jean Matthews, 83, currently of Bruceton Mills, passed away Sunday, Sept. 12, 2021, in Stonerise Nursing Home in Morgantown.
The daughter of the late George and Lulu Manger, she was born Dec. 31, 1937, in Baltimore.
Doris was an amazing mom, grandma, great-grandma and great-great-grandma. She is survived by her two daughters, Bonita Helmick and Cynthia Matthews of Bruceton Mills; five grandchildren: Shannon and her companion, Buck White, of Bruceton Mills, Renee Hott, of Florida, Tracie Abernathy and her husband, Jimmy, of North Carolina, and Mickey Cope, of Morgantown; great-grandchildren: Astin, Garrett, Patrick, Dakota, Jax, Donovan, Nathaniel, Keelie, Savannah, Anna, Brookelynn, Ambria, Mallorie, Cherril, Ashlee and Ariel; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Gibson Matthews, of 25 years, until his death in 1981; her long time fiancé, Paul Dunko, until his death in 2012; and a great-great-grandson, Greyson Allen.
Family and friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16.
Cremation services will be provided by the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home.
