Kenneth Junior Leach, 84, went to his heavenly home on Sept. 3, 2021. Kenneth was born on April 16, 1937, in Morgantown.
He was one of 19 children born to the late George and Icie Leach. He was a talented glass blower, having worked at both the Seneca and Morgantown Glass Factories for over two decades. He also worked as a coal miner for 20 years at Blacksville #2 Mines until he retired in 1999.
He was a devoted family man to his wife of 58 years and loving father to his three daughters. He was a proud member of United Mine Workers of America Union District 31 Local 1702, Moose Lodge 264, and Mount Morris Sportsmen’s Association #215.
Kenny enjoyed everything about life, especially being around people and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a hard worker, an avid blood donor and loved spending time outside enjoying long walks, playing corn hole, mowing grass and sitting on the porch swing listening to nature. In his last four years he spent his free time at the Mamie A. Warner Senior Center, where he was named Volunteer of the Month several times. He was a devout member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Star City and a member of St. Polycarp Catholic Church in Smyrna, Del.
Kenneth leaves to cherish his memory to his brother, James Leach, of Morgantown; his daughters, Alice Gaston with husband Stephen Gaston, of Delaware, and Gloria Groover, of Virginia; 10 grandchildren: Joshua Brooks, Kristin Malone, Ashley Caudle, Courtney Schultz, Hannah Gaston, Lauren Gaston, Caleb Groover, Isaac Gaston, Michaela Parnell and Nicholas Parnell; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Virginia Leach, in 2017; his daughter, Donna Leach Brooks, in 2006; and 17 brothers and sisters.
A visitation will be held at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home located at 10 South High St., Morgantown, WV 26501, from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 8. There will be a celebration of Kenneth’s life starting at 10 a.m. followed by Mass at 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 9 at St. Mary Catholic Church on University Ave., Star City.
