Robert Demick

Robert “Bob” Lee Demick, 88, of Newburg, passed away on Sept. 4, 2021. He was born on Feb. 25, 1933, in Kingwood, son of the late Adolph Leo and Gladys Amanda “Miller” Demick.

Bob owned and operated his own trucking company, Demick Trucking, for over 30 years and his CB handle was “Ears.” He then owned and operated Bob’s Auto Ranch up until he retired in June 2021.

He was a member of the Concord Community Church. He enjoyed traveling and loved talking about cars and trucking. Bob was outgoing, a talker and a good businessman.

He is survived by four children, Julie Matthews, of Reedsville, James Matthews and Gudrun, of Autryville, N.C., Leigh Ann Demick, of Newburg, and Lisa Saurborn, of Morgantown; one son-in-law, Buck McCarty, of Mt. Juliet, Tenn; 11 grandchildren: Melissa Turchetta and Jason, Matthew McCarty and Marquita, Jodi Woloszyn and Billy, Jennifer Everly and Mike, John Curry, Jason Curry, Melanie Kohl and Paul, Marcel Grosshaeuser and Catherine, Fabienne Narron and Ricky, Emily Saurborn and Misty Braham; 16 great-grandchildren: Ryan, Kourtney, Michael, Lacy, Austin, Tristan, Luke, Gehrig, Madison, Nathan, Jaycie, Jayden, Christopher, Taylor, Heidi and Chase; one great-great-granddaughter, Thea; one sister, Dorotha Everly and Donnie, Kingwood; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Verna Mae “Hatten” Demick, in 2020; one daughter, Connie McCarty; one great-granddaughter, Kaila; one infant brother; and one sister, Kathleen Mason and her husband, Ron Mason. A special thank you to the Sundale family and Amedisys Hospice for all the love and support.

Family will receive friends at Bolyard Funeral Home, from 3-8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 10. A private service for family will be held Saturday, Sept. 11, with Pastor Clinton Adkins officiating. Interment will follow at Pratt Cemetery.
