MORGANTOWN — One of the top runners in boys’ cross-country and track in West Virginia history is reaping the benefits of a stellar high school career at University High.
This week, Josh Edwards announced he was headed west to the University of Oregon to continue his running. The three-time — two in cross-country and one in track — Gatorade Runner of the Year is joining a program with the Ducks many consider the best in the country.
A winner of the last two Class AAA state titles in cross-country, Edwards also holds the state record in the 3,200-meter in track, hitting a PR of 8.49.04 in the Mountaineer Showcase last spring at Mylan Park. He ultimately won individual titles in the 3,200 and 1,600 at the state meet in June at Laidley Field in Charleston.
