Edward S. “Bud” Goodwin passed away peacefully at The Madison Center on Aug. 16, 2021.
Son of the late John Emery and Ruby Iona (Everly) Goodwin, Bud was born and raised in Morgantown. He married the love of his life, Helen Georgette Coburn on March 6, 1955, after returning home from his service as a radio operator with the Headquarters Company 39th Infantry Regiment during the Korean War.
Bud retired from his position of vice president with First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Greene County after 30 years. Bud was also instrumental in opening First Greene Mortgage in Morgantown.
Bud’s greatest accomplishment, in his eyes, was his unwavering love for his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family. He was a Lion, fierce and completely unashamed to show each one of us how love looked and felt. Bud was a devoted husband and tirelessly cared for his wife, Helen, until she passed on March 26, 2010.
He is survived by his son, Edward S. “Spencer” Goodwin II; daughter, Molly (Dave) Burrow; grandchildren, Nicole Davis (Justin Grow), Dawn (Mitch) Liston, Andrea Stoneking (Bryan Kenyon), Georgette Goodwin (Zachary Bloom), Edward S. “Eddie” Goodwin III, Tiffany Burrow and Ryan Burrow; great-grandchildren, Brighton, Kayden, Nicholas, Ruby, Kaleb and Lincoln; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bud donated his body to the WVU Human Gift Registry so there will not be services or viewings.
