Bennie Moran, 84, of Morgantown, peacefully passed away at his home on Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021. He was born in Fairmont and was the son of the late Paul and Willa (Purkey) Moran.
He graduated from East Fairmont High School and Fairmont State University and proudly served three years in the U.S. Army Airborne. Bennie received his Masters of Divinity and an honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Bob Jones University. He founded Faith Baptist Church in Morgantown in 1967, and went on to faithfully serve the Lord for 49 years as the pastor, retiring in 2016.
Bennie is survived by his wife of 59 years, Laura Summers; and three children, Craig Moran, of Statesville, N.C., Lisa Young, of Bowie, Md., and Amy Moran, of Morgantown. He was preceded in death by his first born daughter, Beth Ann, in 1963. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Hastings Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Friends and family will be received at Faith Baptist Church, 809 Greenbag Road, Morgantown, from 3-7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 13. Visitation will continue at the church from 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 14, until the time of funeral service at
11 a.m. with Pastor Treg Spicer officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Fairmont.
