Robert Eugene Thewlis Sr., 88, of Morgantown, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2021, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born on July 5, 1933, son of the late Fred and Ethel (McElroy) Thewlis.
Bob served the U.S. Army and worked construction throughout his life.
He is survived by sons, Robert (Beth), of Morgantown, and Clif Thewlis, of Goose Creek, S.C.; two grandsons, Eric (Tracy) and Charles (Emily) Thewlis, of Morgantown; and four granddaughters.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Catherine, in January of this year.
Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 9, until the time of the service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Stacy Chrise-Tritt officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery with full military honors provided by VFW Post 9916 in
Westover.
