Beulah “Big Momma” Murray, 72, of Beulah Road, Morgantown, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday July 27, 2021, at the J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born Jan. 20, 1949, in Morgantown, daughter to John Kenneth and Ada Lucille Nicholson McDonald.
Big Momma had many jobs over the years and retired from many. The most important thing to her was taking care of her grandchildren and making blankets for her new grandbabies.
Big Momma was survived by her husband of 49 years, William “George” Murray; children, George “Pork” Murray and wife Chrissy and Jamie Murray and wife Marie; grandchildren, Casey Bewak, Tiffany Murray and companion Alex Davis, Walker “Pedro” Murray, Taylor Murray and companion Trey Barber and Owen and Eli Murray; and great-grandchildren, Braelynn Murray-Barber, Wyatt Walters and one on the way.
She is also survived by her siblings: Gaylene and Keith Sanders, Diane and Donnie Cress, Dinah “Nip” and Bob Robinson and Joe and Deb McDonald; sister-in-law, Linda McDonald; her in-laws, John and Denise Murray, Harve Murray, Joanne Blosser, Marianne and “Jingles” McFadden, Debbie Mathess; and companion, Dave Sanders and Jody and Tracy Murray.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ken and Lucille McDonald; her brother, Delmas McDonald; her mother and father-in-law, William and Mildred Murray; two brothers-in-law, Glenn “Butch” Mathess and Larry Gay Blosser; and nephew, Dave “Sock” Mathess.
Family will receive friends at the Nicholson Chapel Church, from 9 a.m., Friday, July 30, until time of service at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Ray Frankhouser officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at the Nicholson Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home.
