CHARLESTON — Denise Morrison, of Morgantown, is the latest to win $1 million in the ‘Do it for Babydog: Save a life, Change your life’ vaccination sweepstakes, but Gov. Jim Justice handed out many more prizes around the state Wednesday.
Morrison, a charge nurse in Ruby Memorial Hospital’s Surgical Services department, was surprised by the governor and his bulldog, Babydog, in the afternoon.
Earlier, they turned over the keys to a brand-new, custom-outfitted truck to Hope To at the Governor’s Mansion in Charleston.
A little later, Shannon Cook, of Marshall County, was in the middle of a shopping trip at Cabela’s when Justice’s voice came over the store’s loudspeaker and asked for Cook to go to the front desk. That’s when the governor told her she’d won the other pickup of the week’s sweepstakes.
This was the fifth prize drawing of the contest.
In addition to this truck giveaway, 47 more West Virginians were announced as Do it for Babydog winners for prizes, including two full four-year scholarships to any public institution in the state, five lifetime hunting licenses, five lifetime fishing licenses, five custom hunting rifles, five custom hunting shotguns, and 25 weekend getaways to West Virginia State Parks.
Tyson Bennett of Falling Waters and Kiera Blankenship of Gilbert won the two full four-year scholarships to any public institution in the state.
