MORGANTOWN — Washing clothes and larger items, like rugs and comforters, can be less of a chore at The Laundry.
Opened in 2014, The Laundry, also known as “The Dirty Come Clean,” is owned by Allan Feldman.
The laundromat offers fast and efficient washers and dryers in its safe and clean environment.
With its 21 washers, 10 dryers, and folding stations, the laundromat strives to make its customers’ experience less of a chore.
There are several different sizes of washers in the facility, ranging from 20- to 90-pound machines. The larger washer makes it easier to wash bigger items such as rugs and blankets.
The machines at The Laundry are more eco-friendly compared to others. The turbocharged washers use less water and are more energy-efficient, as the head-spinning 200-G force spin-cycle washer removes more water, so your laundry takes less time to dry.
The Laundry has several different payment methods for its machines.
Its Easy Pay System allows customers to pay with their credit card or phone at the laundromat’s kiosk, and choose the washer or dryer numbers and select how they want to pay. Customers can also sign up for the laundromat’s loyalty program.
Customers can also use quarters to pay for the machines.
Not only does The Laundry offer a full line of washers and dryers for self-service, but it also offers wash/dry/fold and pickup and deliver or carry-in services. This service allows customers to drop off their laundry and an employee will wash, dry and fold the laundry for them.
“This service is convenient for those who are very busy and don’t have time to do laundry at home during the day,” said Feldman
The laundromat offers free pick-up for residents, all local businesses, restaurants, spas, gyms, health facilities and assisted living facilities.
“We get a lot of calls from parents whose students live on campus and they’ll ask if we can pick up their laundry,” said Feldman.
There are also two vending machines inside the laundromat; one is filled with extra detergent and other laundry supplies while the other is filled with drinks and snacks.
In addition to all of the services, payment options and vending machines, The Laundry also offers free Wi-Fi and a large, off-street parking lot.
Feldman also owns laundromats in Grafton and Belington.
Feldman lived in Philadelphia, Pa., most of his life and attended Philadelphia Community College. He said his wife is a WVU alumnus and her daughter and grandchildren lived in Morgantown.
After moving to Morgantown in 2001, Feldman thought that he would go into the furniture business with his father and brother, but that didn’t feel right for him. He began driving school buses and started a Real Appraiser internship.
Feldman met someone who was selling houses in Grafton, as well as a laundromat. So, he had an idea to buy the laundromat instead of the houses.
“It was a brand new experience,” said Feldman. “After that experience, I started looking in Morgantown and bought a building and started The Dirty Come Clean Laundry.”
The Laundry, located at 441 Brockway Ave., is open from 5:30 a.m.-midnight every day.
