Louise Myers

On the afternoon of July 4, 2021, a day to celebrate freedom, Louise L. Myers, 87, left us to forever abide with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Louise passed away at Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown.

Louise was born in Cascade, Nov. 25, 1933. She was the fifth child, and the second daughter, of Hester (Deavers) Myers and Richard Myers.

Louise, a lifelong resident of Morgantown, was known to many through church and work. Louise graduated from Morgantown High School in 1954. Her church family was important to her. She was a member of Riverside Apostolic Church and later in life became a member of Hope Church. Louise retired from the Davis and Lynch Glass Factory in Star City and Giant Eagle on Greenbag Road.

Louise enjoyed a good laugh, traveling, sightseeing, shopping and an occasional trip to the seashore. She enjoyed traveling to many places, and one of her favorite places to visit was the Amish country in Ohio. Louise was always ready for a travel adventure, either with her family or close friends. She felt blessed to have so many loving and caring people in her life.

Those who are reading this obituary may recognize her likeness in the picture, but may not be able to place where you knew her from. You most likely knew her as the bakery counter attendant at the Giant Eagle on Greenbag Road. Did she take care of your cake order, or hand your children a free cookie? If so, you should know that Louise enjoyed serving the public and bringing a smile to the faces of those around her.

Louise loved her family dearly. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; sister, Rosalie Donham; and brothers, Leo and Fred Myers. Louise is survived by her younger sister, Juanita Williams, of Florence, S.C.; and her brother, William Myers, of Morgantown. Louise was aunt and great-aunt to many children and will be deeply missed by all.

A memorial service will be held later in the year and will be announced in this column.
