Samuel E. Sheppard, of Mars, Pa., beloved husband of Alice Sheppard, passed away on July 3, 2021. He was the son of Carl and Pearl Campbell Sheppard; father to Gwen Jones (Dennis), Redean Sheppard-Lapensky (Adam) and Renee Drozynski (Brian); grandfather to Aaron Moyers; great-grandfather to Tyler, Justin, Alex, Maddox, Lauren, Matilda and Maxwell; and brother to Ruth, Helen, Carl Jr. and Robert He is survived by his brother, Roy.
Born in Asheville, N.C., Sam was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. After serving in the military, Sam enjoyed a variety of careers. He was an award-winning executive chef in Michigan, then went on to join the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Local 154 in Pittsburgh, where he retired after 25 years. Not one to sit idle, he also worked as a farrier for 20 years. Sam was an avid outdoorsman who especially loved fishing, and farming. He enjoyed spending time at the family farm in West Virginia, wintering in Florida and traveling with his wife and family. While the horses will miss his bales of hay, the family will forever miss his fine cooking, vast know-how and steadfast nature.
Friends will be received at the Donald R. Crawford Funeral Home, 4222 National Pike, Farmington, Pa., from 6-8 p.m., Friday, July 9, and from noon-1 p.m., Saturday, July 10. Service will be held on Saturday following the visitation. Interment will be at Shady Grove Cemetery, Bruceton Mills. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Three Rivers Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund.
