John Michael Chrzaszcz, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away Thursday, July 1, 2021, at his home, after a long battle with cancer. He was born Dec. 30, 1956, in Morgantown, a son of the late William and Betty Chrzaszcz.
John was a graduate of University High School Class of 1974. John began his career with Verizon Telephone Company in 1978 and retired after 31 years of service in 2009.
In his spare time, John enjoyed fishing and golfing. He was also an avid West Virginia University Mountaineer and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He also coached many years of youth sports with his children.
John loved and was so proud of his children. He also became a very proud and happy grandfather and foster grandfather in the past two months.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jean Chrzaszcz; children, Amy Do and husband Kien, of Chantilly, Va., Cody Chrzaszcz and wife Andrea and their foster children, of Morgantown; grandson Liem Do; brothers, Joe Chrzaszcz and wife Lorrie, of Minnesota, Jim Chrzaszcz, of Morgantown, and Jerry Chrzaszcz and wife Debby, of Richmond, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jenna Lynn Chrzaszcz.
Honoring John’s wishes, cremation is being arranged by Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, from 1 p.m., Saturday, July 10, until the memorial service at 2:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s memory to WVU Medicine Hospice C/O UHC 2673 Davisson Run Road, Clarksburg, WV 26301.
