Snow White enjoys tea with princesses-to-be

MORGANTOWN — Snow White traded miners for minors Saturday as she spent the morning with a dozen or so princesses-in-training at The Tea Shoppe.

The gathering, inspired by the 1937 Disney classic, was the latest in the business’s princess tea parties.

While Grumpy, Dopey, Doc, Happy, Bashful, Sneezy and Sleepy were unable to attend, actress Melissa Ryan, known as Miss Pockets, made the rounds, portraying the teenage princess who was felled by her stepmother’s poison apple and saved with a kiss from a charming prince.

“It’s just really great for young kids. [Ryan] does such a great job. She reads them a story and does activities with them. They’ll play games and do crafts,” The Tea Shoppe owner Lisa Biafore said. “Today, we’re making caramel apples.”

Biafore said the popular monthly princess tea parties will take the next two months off before returning in September.

“They’re just really a lot of fun,” she said.
