Rose Marie Plevich, 84, passed away Friday, May 28, 2021, in Dobson, N.C., with her family by her side. She was born in Monongalia County on Dec. 3, 1936, the daughter of Mildred Pellan.
Rose Marie was a member of Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church and volunteered for many years with the church, and at the Ascension Catholic Church, in Hurricane, where she was instrumental in starting the We Care, We Share Ministry program to help the poor and underprivileged. She worked tirelessly to help the poor.
She was known to be an excellent cook and would extend her home for many gatherings of family and friends. She was also an avid card player, always arranging a card game.
She is survived by her children, Joel Michael Plevich and his wife Mary, of Morgantown, Vickie Marie Donahue and her husband Tom, of Lighthouse Point, Fla., David Paul Plevich and his wife Trisha, of Morgantown, and Dr. Linda Michele Shuck, of Elkin, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Annika Plevich, Eva Sine and her husband Daniel, Joel Thomas Donahue and his wife Bianca, Taylor DeLuca and her husband Justin, Joseph Plevich, Luke Plevich, Jessica Shuck and Lucas Shuck; and three great-grandchildren, Branson Sine, Stella Sine and Adriana Rose DeLuca.
In addition to her mother, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Joel P. Plevich, in 2016.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from
4-7 p.m. Thursday, June 3. The evening visitation will conclude with a Scriptual Wake Service at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church, at 10 a.m. Friday, June 4, with the Rev. Msgr. Anthony Cincinnati, STD, VE as Celebrant. Entombment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
